NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND SPECIAL ARCHIVES OF NATIONAL COLLECTION - The Historical Archives of the Hungarian State Security by Gergő Bendegúz Cseh

- It searches archives and historical sciences, publishes the results and takes part in publishing the kept documents under the supervision of scientific division of labour; - It fulfils other tasks of archives determined by archival law. The institution is a state archives classified by the Act of Archives, according to its legal status, is an independent, a budgetary organisation with authorized legal status, that is, an independent position within the Parliamentary budget. Its director-general and the position of an assistant are appointed by the chairman of the Parliament who at the same time supervises the work of the institution. DOCUMENTS OF THE HISTORICAL ARCHIVES The collection area of Historical Archives was regulated by Act III./ lb /.§ of 2003 renewed. According ^ to the act, the documents of the former Department III. of Ministry of National Affairs, State security and the documents of its predecessor belong to the collection area of the archives and the documents that relate to the employees of the Main Division, Division Headquarters which relate to the secret and top secret co-workers, and also the documents of committees observing on notable figures and people who have public confidence and can change public opinion.
