19 th and 20 th centuries. The documents of the Hungarian National Bank (1924 - 1982) are also of considerable importance. This bank was established after World War I to help with loans and funding. The National Bank became a determinant institution for the centralized Hungarian banks after their nationalization in 1948. It had to perform the tasks of a bank like issuing, crediting, keeping accounts and performing as exchange control authority. The documents of insurance companies set up with the help of mainly German, Italian and French capital; the Hungarian capital was to remain in only a fragmented condition. The files of many important mining companies are kept by the archives together with for example, Hungarian General Coal-Mine Share Company, 1830 - 1954, Coal-Mine Company of Salgótarján, 1848 - 1949, Aluminium Mining and Industrial Share Company, 1917 - 1952, Bauxite Trust, 1923 - 1946, Hungarian - American Oil Share Company, 1930 - 1952 and from the socialist era Mines of Mecsek, 1945 - 1980, Hungarian Coal Mine Trust, 1960 - 1985, Hungarian - Soviet Bauxite Aluminium Share Company, 1948 - 1955, Hungarian Aluminium Industrial Trust 1953 - 1991, Hungarian - Soviet Oil Share Company, Country Oil and Gas Trust and so on. We only mention the fond of the documents of industrial companies, only a few of which were internationally known and which played an important role in the economic history of Central- European region. These documents are essential and limitless source for the Hungarian economic history as well. To complete the task of archives of socialist era (that is the whole period after 1945) the New Hungarian Central Archives of national authority was set up on the foundation of one of the departments of the Hungarian National Archives.
