News database in English language The news database of the Hungarian News Service in English has worked since 1991 and has been continuously filled up. The database involves the most important domestic and foreign news in English. The database is increasing daily. You can subscribe to the service. Special Library The Special Library of MTI has collected and classified the publicity information equipment, special books, newspapers, periodicals and own publications needed for the work since 1969. Today the collection includes 30 thousand press theoretical, historical, political, economical manuals and special books, pamphlets, more than 300 current Hungarian and foreign printed matters and CDs. Outer visitors can visit the library on weekdays from 8am to 6 pm, who have to pay for the service, (information service, reading on the spot, making copies about the material of the library and microfilms) Photo archives, photo data base The Hungarian News Service has had its photo service since 1924. The air conditioned rooms of the photo archives take care of 12 million shots on original photo negatives. The photo archives of MTI has stored and preserved all the shots taken by the photo reporters of the news agency. There are photos among them, which were considered useless because of political reasons when they were taken. So now a lot of unseen photos, interesting photo documents were brought up to the surface during the clearance. The photo editorial staff of MTI uses, writes up and archives the several hundred domestic photos taken by its photographers, cameramen day by day and the ones that are continuously delivered by the photo services of AP and EPA (owning a global information net) news agencies. It makes them accessible for the inquirers with the help of its Photo bank. The national news service has applied digital technics in taking photos, working up them and archiving since 1995. Systematic work up and their digital saving of the photo negative collection from before 1995 started in December 2002.
