changed. The original alma mater at Bródy Sándor street nowadays works as the Hungarian Radio Share Company. During the nearly 80 year long operation the Hungarian Radio Service has accumulated very rich material on different data carrier and which now has historic value and is maintained by the Archives of the Hungarian Radio. The Archives of the Hungarian Radio Share Company maintains the collection including purchased, made or donated audio carrier also including sound memories, books, press and written material, pictures during the work of the Hungarian Radio and its predecessor. It is not only the employees' demands to do the work of a programmer when they preserve, write up national and universal and cultural value for the succeeding generations and they make them accessible for outer inquirers, too. The employees of the collection co-operate in the work between the editorial staff and the Archives, in the commercial and non-commercial usage of different documents and they also help scientific research. The Archives co-operate with national and foreign radio and television companies, publishers, recording companies and other collections taking the possibilities into consideration. It represents the Hungarian Radio Company in national and foreign organizations and programmes. It organizes temporary and permanent exhibition with using the collection of museum value. The Archives is an independent organizational entity within the Radio with the director at the head appointed by the president. THE ORGANIZATION OF THE ARCHIVES Audio archives of proze-works It has collected, archived, done the work of writing up, documented and broadcast the programmes, uncut recordings and audio recording obtained by either donation or purchase since 1960. One of the most valuable treasure of the division is the recording of Edison's voice and the Hungarian Lajos Kossuth's voice that was recorded in 1890 that has been also left over on phonograph cylinder. With the help of the several hundred thousands recordings on the most variable audio carriers we are able to follow the economic and social events (musical, theatre, literary, artistic, sport and so on) of national and universal culture and society from the beginning of the last century up today Nowadays the aim of digitization is partly division protection, partly with the aim of publishing and making it accessible on the Internet.
