ECCLESIASTICAL ARCHIVES - Archives of Small Archives

Inventarisation of the archives in the Romanian Orthodox parishes in Hungary was done according to the following classification: I. Documents of parishes - Records - Registers - Economic documents - Census - Register books, mail books - II. Documents of religious schools - Annuals - Economic documents - Other school documents - III. Mixed documents - Archival material of the given parishes arranged yearly. BAPTIST ARCHIVES In the archives there can be found historical documents as from 1844. There are 41 fonds. It is 112 linear metres. Its classification and readiness for research is at middle level. The founder priest, Bertalan Kirner A. (1884-1973) of the archives established it in 1948, who used to be a church history researcher. The aim of the institution is to collect historical documents relating to Hungarian baptism both in Hungary and over the borders, their preservation, scientific writing up and to make them appropriate for research. Historic Relic Collection also belong to the archives. It was established by the priest and church historian, Oliver Szebeni (1928-) in 1963. This collection keeps written material and photos and objects of significant ecclesiastical superior. The leader of the archives organized a permanent exhibition in the new Baptist Mission Centre. The church governmental documents are from 1870, the documents of church general assemblies, of inner and outer missionary activities, records from 1912 to 1990. The archives keep economic documents and land registers from 1896. The series of registers from 1874 to 1965 are important, the data go back to the dictated peace of Trianon from 1874 on the whole are of the historical Hungary. The documents of the Academy of Baptist Theology can also be found here. We also have documents of the territories over the borders and the memories of the western Baptist congregations: manuscripts of priests and missionaries. The archives also have an important collection of church press.
