seats of dioceses or in the priestly office in the church districts. Their treatment depended on the deans and parish­priests in charge. Formation of the written material called 'archives' into real archives in the church district started in the 16 th ,17 th century. The documents were registered by 'committees giving over archives' and they were protected in Tetter cases'. There are written notes about regulation of archives, its supervision and the chosen 'document-treasurer' from 1769. The assembly of the church district (no.1/1769) called the regulation of 'Superintendant Archives' into being (Episcopal Archives), on 20 th April 1773, it elected its document­treasurer who started to work on 1 st January 1774. (no.5/1774) The organizational formation of the college archives happened parallel to that of the church district. The documents of the College were held in the 'Coetus letter case.' With the guidance of Professor Miklós Sinai (1760-1790) the archival material was separated from the librarian material in the middle of the 18 th century and it was placed under professorial supervision. Methodical writing up of the archives of the church district and college started in the 19 th century On the proposal of the committee members, Ézsaiás Budai, Lőrinc Domonkos and József Földvári the general assembly of the church district ordered in 1822 (98/1822) that the material of the archives should be arranged. A committee for the church district and a committee for the college came into being separately and both elenchus were prepared. The Presidium of the diocese gave stable place for the archives of the church district and college under the episcopacy of Ézsaiás Budai. The documents were placed there on 23 rd May, 1823. Delivering the documents meant that the localized order of the documents was mixed up. Imre Révész proposed to make a new archival order. In the year of 1923 Sándor Csikesz found the archives of college still in localized order. There were official instructions about the documents of the diocese and parish only in the 18 th century.
