ECCLESIASTICAL ARCHIVES - An Overview of Catholic Ecclesiastical Archives by Andor Lakatos
This indicates that there is not a single full-time employed person in each of the 18 institutions. Out of the total number of 34, there were only 6 who started employment before 1990-from that year after it grew to a total of 28. So fluctuation in the number of employees was very significant particularly after the political changes in the Catholic Ecclesiastical Archives. In classifying the employees who started the job after 1990, we can say that the number of the 'recent graduates' is 16. This is nearly half of the total employees or 60 % of the total workforce that started after 1990. Beyond the fluctuation and the alternation of generations - there is constant rejuvenation in these institutions. In the researchers' circulation- due to the growing demand, we can say that the researchers are continuously make use of these institutions. Moreover, the client-visitor service has been growing very rapidly to such an extent that over half the employees are now involed with administrative tasks. Doing this there is not much time and energy left for arranging documents or making finding aids; although this work is also of vital importance. Only 2300 linear metres of documents have finding aids at the middle level, guides at the level of documents series and storage units, that is 20 % of the total Catholic material.
