Haraszti Szabó Péter: Primus inter pares? A prágai egyetem helye a magyar diákok régión belüli peregrinációjában Primus inter pares? The Place of the Prague University in the Intraregional Peregrination of Hungarian Students The paper is a historical statistical analysis. Comparative studies are the best tool to determine which university, out of the three major Central European ones, was the primary educational institution for students from Hungary until the beginning of the 15th century. Since the total number of students is unknown from Prague, one of the primary tasks is to determine their approximate number. It is mainly Vienna that may serve as an important basis for comparison. As to the total number of students, Prague (about 1,200 persons) and Vienna (about 1,300 persons) had roughly the same indices until 1420. However, before 1409, the University of Charles IV was definitely destination number one for Hungarian students. A mass influx of Hungarians to Vienna started only after the decline of Prague.
