The Oriental Museum

The Oriental Museum was established within the organization of the Oriental Business Academy in 1913 as a result of over a decade of systematic collecting activities. The collection was significantly enriched during World War I as a result of collecting activities performed partly in the occupied Balkan and eastern areas, and partly among the prisoners of war. The material was presented in a large-scale military exhibition in the last years of the war, but it was mixed up and damaged at the end of the war. In the end, it got to the Ethnographic Department of the Hungarian National Museum in 1924, and a fraction of it to the Hungarian Commercial and Hospitality Museum in 1981.
