Kapronczay Károly: Lengyel „földalatti” hazai és emigrációs iskolák a második világháború éveiben Polish "Underground" Domestic and Emigrational Schools during World World II After the outbreak of World War II, Poland was occupied by the Germans and the Soviets, and only primary education in Polish language was permitted. Until 1945, secondary and tertiary education in native languages could be carried out only illegally. Emigrants organized primary Polish education for the Polish refugees, and the host countries permitted young Polish refugees to enrol in secondary and higher education in the given country. Hungary was accepting Polish military and civilian refugees from 10 September 1939 continuously. There was a Polish secondary school in Balatonboglár. Polish students were studying at universities in Budapest, Debrecen, and Szeged, and the certificates they received were recognized in their home country.
