Borsodi Csaba: Forradalmi bizottságok, munkástanács az ELTE-n 1956-ban Revolutionary Committees and the Workers' Council at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in 1956 ELTE played a prominent role in the 1956 Revolution and struggle for freedom. The instructors and the students of the university walked to Bern's statue in the frontline of the 23 October demonstration. On 26 October, the Revolutionary Uni­versity Student Committee, which played a decisive role all through the revolution, was formed in the Barnabás Street building of the Faculty of Humanities. When the events enabled it (on the last days of October), revolutionary committees and workers' councils were formed in its various faculties and took over the manage­ment of the university. The paper traces this process.
