Tar Attila Szilárd: A Göttingeni Egyetem hatása Magyarországon The Influence of the University of Göttingen in Hungary The University of Göttingen, founded in 1734, belonged to the small circle of „enlightened universities" and had a great impact on both German and Hungarian universities. Though new subjects and modern teaching methods attracted students from many countries, it was the freedom of learning and teaching that become the university's most important innovation. The „Georgia Augusta" attracted prospective theologists and lawyers, as well as many city officials, from all over Hungary. Some famous professors, like Schlözer, had nearly a „school" of Hungarian students. These students became familiar with Western European history and political ideology. Furthermore they became immersed in an ideologically liberal atmosphere. All these things contributed to the Hungarian reform-debates before the revolution of 1848. Keywords: Göttingen, enlightenment, scientific transfer, university model by Humboldt, Hungarian students Kulcsszavak: Göttingen, felvilágosodás, tudományos transzfer, Humboldt egyetemi model, magyar egyetemisták 142
