Magyarországi főegyházmegyei méltóságok - Kovács Viktória: „Miként életemben kedvelt, úgy holtomban is méltóztasson támogatni”. Szegedi Lukács zágrábi püspök végrendelete 1510-ből

„Miként életemben kedvelt, úgy holtomban is méltóztasson támogatni” Viktória Kovács “AS YOU HAVE FAVOURED ME IN MY LIFE, SO BE WORTHY TO SUPPORT ME IN MY DEATH” Testament of Luke of Szeged, Bishop of Zagreb, dated 1510 The essay publishes the text of the last will of Bishop Lukács Szegedi of Zagreb (1500-1510), of which only a few provisions were known until now, with an analytical study. His testament, dated 12th March of 1510, was preserved in an unauthenticated copy from the same period in the archives of the Batthyány family in Körmend, and was entered into the Central Archives of the National Archives of Hungary in 2021. Of the Bishop’s 25,000 forints in cash, the last will left 2,000 forints to King Ulászló II and 3,000 forints to Lukács ’s niece, Katalin, the fiancée of Boldizsár Batthyány. He gave most of his money to ecclesiastical persons and various ecclesiastical bodies, and provided support for the Dominican, Pauline and Observant Franciscan orders. For the salvation of his own soul, he made donations for more than 2,500 masses. The study preceding the publication of the text reviews the previous literature, takes into account the new information about the bishop’s family, and also takes into account the additional documents of the Batthyány Archives related to Lukács Szegedi, which were transferred to the National Archives of Hungary in 2021. Finally, it outlines the major content units of the testament and points out the potential of the document to be exploited and exploited by the historical and art historical research. 37
