WE WANT TO BECOME A RELEVANT AND INDISPENSABLE MEMORY INSTITUTION IN THE INFORMATION SOCIETY...” Introduction of a quality management system in the National Archives of Hungary In 2021, the National Archives of Hungary will introduce a quality management system compliant with the ISO 9001: 2015 international standard. The present study recalls the most important moments of the path from decision to implementation, presents the process of implementation and the main features of the planned system. It briefly describes the elements of the ISO 9000 series of standards, outlines the most important principles of quality management and their application based on the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard. The article also analyses the context in which the Hungarian archival profession has planned to introduce professional quality assurance in the last decade, and what its current expectations are regarding the introduction of quality management.
