Nyolcasok a magyar történelemben - Ö. Kovács József: 1948 a fordulat éve? 1945 értelmezése a társadalomtörténeti események tükrében
JÓZSEF Ö. K OVÁCS 1948 THE YEAR OF CHANGE? Interpretation of 1945 in the light of events in social history The main point of the author’s argument is that by the communist created political myths 1948 was called “the year of the turn”. By the regional historical research, based on the archival sources, which are mirroring the primary experiences of the contemporaries, another interpretation can be justified. The essence of this is that if we insist to the term “year of change”, 1945 can be regarded as the real turning point, the beginning of the covered communist dictatorship, in the light of the analysis of the history of personal experiences regarding the collectivization and distribution of lands. Compared to this, we can count the period of uncovered dictatorship from 1948. The strategy of the Communist Party was based on the old tradition of gaining and retaining the power, thus it was not a new method to reward political support. In 1945, this “reward” was the land donation. The confiscation and redistribution of the fields in the local societies laid the foundations for the dictatorship of the MKP (Magyar Kommunista Párt = Hungarian Communist Party). The positioning, engagement and influence of the Communists, who acted as the vanguards of the sovietisation, meant hegemony as soon as 1945. 1948 a fordulat éve? 1945 értelmezése a társadalomtörténeti események tükrében 55
