Műhely - Molnár András: Deák Antal jellemzései az országgyűlések résztvevőiről, 1825–1833

ANDRÁS M OLNÁR ANTAL DEÁK’S PORTRAYALS OF THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE DIETS BETWEEN 1825—1833 The older brother of Ferenc Deák, Antal Deák — iudex nobilium, then deputy lieutenant — participated at the Diets of 1825—1827, 1830 and 1832—1836 in Pressburg as the envoy of Zala County, where he weekly wrote friendly, confidential letters to his brother-in-law, József Oszterhueber, who lived in Puszta szent -lászló. In these unpublished letters he depicted many interesting facts about the daily life of the participants of the diet; gave detalied reports about the negotiation process; summarized the most important debates; and also portrayed some of participants of these negotiations. Our paper elaborates and publishes the latter, the characteristics of some actors of the diet (envoys, aristocrats and governmental officials); and outlines the fate and the historiography of Antal Deák’s letters.
