Munkavégzés és szabadidő-kultúra a 19-20. században - Anka László: Utazgató grófok a boldog békeidők korában: Apponyi Albert levelei Károlyi Sándorhoz

LÁSZLÓ A NKA TRAVELER COUNTS IN THE PERIOD OF DUALISM: ALBERT APPONYI’S LETTERS TO SÁNDOR KÁROLYI Count Albert Apponyi corresponded with Count Sándor Károlyi for 20 years (1885–1905). Apart from politics, they discussed marriage, financial affairs, farming, and health issues. Apponyi always sent his letters from different post offices and informed his friend when and to where he was going to travel, so Karolyi knew where to send his response. He rebuked him several times for writing wrong addresses on the envelopes, so he received the messages late. These letters tell us how, where, and with who did Apponyi spend his free time. Moreover, inform us that where Karolyi, who suffered from lung disease, stayed and what he was dealing with. The letters to Karolyi reveal which factors influenced on his destinations, and which meetings had to be taken into account, when planning a journey. They also show how the Party leader scheduled his working hours, his estate management duties, his father’s care, and they reveal how he organized his summer holidays which were often linked to the expansion of his international relations.
