Brit diplomáciai iratok az 1921. évi húsvéti királypuccs történetéhez 121 1921. április 1-én a Foreign Office a következő távirati utasítást küldte Lord Harding párizsi nagykövetnek (hivatkozva Lindley 84. sz. táviratára): „Can you obtain any confirmation of report that French Prime Min. encouraged ex-King Karl to return to Hungary?" „Tudna-e ön megerősítést szerezni ama jelentés tekintetében, mely szerint a francia miniszterelnök bátorította Károly ex-királyt a magyarországi visszatérésre?" My telegram No. 74. í am informed that all is quiet at Szombathely Doctor (? Gratz) Minister for Foreign Affairs arrived there this morning from Vienna. Clerk távirati jelentése a Foreign Office-nak a királypuccs ügyében tett csehszlovák lépésekről No. 55. Minister for Foreign Affairs has just telephoned to me to say that he has warned Hungarian Government that unless ex-Emperor Karl is immediately expelled from Hungarian territory Czecho-Slovak Government will take such measures as situation seems to them to require. At the same time Doctor Benes has asked Jugo-Slav 3 Roumanian, and Italian Governments to take similar steps. Minister for Foreign Affairs has neither stipulated time limit nor indicated measures he proposes to take in his message to Hungarian Government whom he believes to be quite innocent of ex-Emperor's visit, but he has in mind small concentration of Czecho-Slovak troops at Bratislava and rupture of all relation with Hungary, a step with which he hopes Jugo-Slavia and Roumania will associate themselves. He thinks Hungarian Government feel themselves placed in a false position by ex-Emperor's action and will be glad of an excuse to insist on his immediate departure from the country. I trust that Doctor Benes may be right, though there seems some risk of rousing the national and very susceptible Hungarian spirit at what may be regarded as unwarranted intervention in internal affairs of the country. Minister for Foreign Affairs also proposes to ask Swiss Government how ex-Emperor was able to get out of Switzerland. Doctor Benes does not regard the situation as serious but has some fear of exaggerated effect in neighbouring countries, and has therefore acted as reported in the hope of terminating the incident immediately.
