I have just informed Chancellor Schober of our wishes, with which I was entrusted in Budapest 2 (a sympathetic attitude towards the postponement of the transfer of territory and the exclusion of Austrian gendarmerie until the end of our negotiations) and of the first version of our territorial proposals. I explained to Dr. Schober that according to the latest impressions I gained in Budapest, it would not be possible to find a Hungarian Government which would pursue a friendly policy towards Austria, if we do not agree amicably on the question of Western Hungary, and therefore I earnestly begged him to do all in his power in the interest of an agreement. Dr. Schober promised to meet me together with Mgr. Seipel to-night, or to-morrow, on which occasion I shall once more pre­sent my arguments. 3 No. 577. ooo/pol.
