1921 IOI Conference of Ambassadors, that it is willing to negotiate in \ the Western Hungarian question. Negotiations are-planned with the mediation of one of the Allied Powers. It seems that Austria is thinking of Italian mediation, which we would not accept. It is to be feared that French mediation would be opposed by Italy. Yesterday evening Marshal Pilsudski received the Archduke Albrecht. The Archduke asked me to convey the following mes­sage from the Marshal to General Tánczos: Marshal Pilsudski sends his cordial greetings to General Tánczos and wishes to inform him that he emphasized the necessity of strengthening Polish-Hungarian friendship during the first two days of his so­journ in Paris. However, he felt Paris was not very favourable to the idea. Therefore, in the interests of other points in his pro­gramme, he did not feel justified in pressing the matter too far. 2 No. 97. 639/pol.
