1921 143 of the Tisza is secured by the railway bridge at Zenta, not far from Szeged. This is proved, according to my information, by the fact that the SHS railways intend to send the Simplon Express via Szabadka—Zenta— Csóka—Nagykikinda, avoiding Hungarian territory, and with this purpose in view are transforming the above-mentioned lines into first class. 1 No. 54. 37/res. pol. The Representative of the Hungarian Government in Paris, Mr. Praznovszky, to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Gratz. General Tánczos reports as follows: 2 I had a long conversation to-day with Count Zamoyski, the Polish Minister. He informed me that France would like very much to see the organization of an anti-bolshevik bloc but could not force the formation of such a bloc against the wishes of Great Britain, on whom she is financially dependent. Italy seems to be in accord with Great Britain. According to Count Zamoyski, the Bolsheviks do not take the peace with Poland very seriously and he complained that the Polish army lacks modern equipment. He believes that the Bolshevik army this time would attack Rumania, perhaps in March. He has little confidence in the ability of the Rumanian army to resist and believes that Hungary is threatened. He is convinced that Marshal Pilsudski enthusiastically supports Hungary's inclusion in the anti-bolshevik bloc. He promised that he would introduce me to Prince Sapieha and if possible to Marshal Pilsudski, who will arrive here on February 4, so that I could present our plans to them in person. Marshal Pilsudski plans to remain in Paris for three days. He is returning to Poland through Prague and will probably meet President Masaryk at the station in Prague. Prince Lubomirsky, who is on good terms with our Legation, talked yesterday with General Weygand. According to him, GenCode telegram No. 32. [TRANSLATION] PARIS, January 21, 1921. 1 Cf. infra, Doc.
