IOO 1921 No. 43. 267/pol. The Representative of the Hungarian Government in Paris, Mr. Praznovszky, to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Count Teleki. Mr. Halmos's negotiations are proceeding favourably. 1 Today Mr. Barthou, also, assured him of his support. To-day Mr. Halmos was advised by competent circles that in order to avoid jealousy, before handing over the note 2 he should show it to the leaders of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in my presence; this took place to-day, at Mr. Peretti's, who agreed with our point of view. Mr. Peretti emphasized the fact that the Austrians are indeed in need of the good counsels of the Allied Powers. Since Mr. Berthelot was busy Mr. Halmos asked Mr. Peretti to inform him; and if the former should have remarks to make to tell him that he (Halmos) would be at his disposal to-morrow, before the transmitting of the note. But no message came from Mr. Berthe lot. Mr. Halmos drew up a memorandum which includes the whole of the note, and which he gave to Mr. Peretti and also forwarded to Mr. Millerand. The latter received him this evening and assured him that he thoroughly shares his opinion and will take the necessary steps. Mr. Halmos read the note, the President made no objections and promised his support, therefore the note will be presented to-morrow. It is interesting that Mr. Loucheur also has promised his firm support. 3 No. 44. 505/pol.
