BUDAPEST, July 22,1920 With reference to my code telegram No. 78. 1 You are instruct­ed to request the German Government to detain Béla Kun who is reported to have been arrested in Stettin or in Swinemünde, until the formal demand for his extradition arrives. The Criminal Court in Budapest issued a warrant for the arrest of Kun, a Hungarian citizen, on December 26, 1919, under No. B. VI. 5736/919. Kun has been indicted for murder, robbery, theft and counterfeiting. Extradition papers will be sent with diplo­matic messenger. No. 479. 4629/pol. The Hungarian Chargé d'affaires in Vienna, Mr. Masirevich, to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Count Teleki. [TRANSLATION Code telegram No. 321. VIENNA, July 22, 1920. Chancellor Renner did not return to Vienna until Tuesday afternoon and on account of engagements in Parliament, he could not receive me until last night. On this occasion I carried out the instructions contained in your code telegram No. 201. 2 The Chancellor brought forward the following two argu­ments in justification of Austria's position. I. The circumstances surrounding the granting of asylum in Austria to Béla Kun.
