With reference to your code telegram No. i. 1 I should like to remark that the information that Italy favoured the in­corporation of Western Hungary into Austria came to me from the Austrian minister in Budapest. 2 Should this matter come up again at the Consulta, you are hereby authorized to declare that I have never given full credence to the information above referred to and that I was later convinced of its falsity. In possession of your valued note of the 28th of February No. 1 696® concerning the Drégelypalánk and Cered incidents, I have the honour of communicating hereunder the particulars brought to light so far by the investigation : The Military garrison of Salgótarján has been informed that Czech patrols in the neighbourhood of Cered are crossing the frontier 4 and ill-treating the population. In order to throw light upon these facts, a patrol had been sent by the garrison on the 3rd of February, consisting of 1 lieu­tenant and 8 men, who among others inspected the borough of Cered during the night.
