182 1920 dated October 22nd, 1919, dissolved the Hungarian Cultural Association of Transylvania (EMKE) and confiscated all its real and movable property. All the property of the EMKE came from private contributions and, as every one knows, the organization was purely cultural and intellectual. Its activity consists in maintaining schools, dormitories and libraries and affording financial support to poor students. The activity of the organization was not restricted to Transylvania. It maintains a large dormitory in Budapest where at present seventy students of Transylvanian origin are living. In consequence of the unlawful dissolution of the organization and of the unjustified confiscation of its property, several schols will be compelled to close, and a great number of students will lose the assistance heretofore received. This unlawful procedure of the Rumanian authorities is a further evidence of the systematic destruction of the educational system. In this connection, attention should be called to the fact that the Rumanians have been unable or unwilling to reopen Hungarian schools which they have previously closed. In consequence of the confiscation of property of the EMKE, the dormitory in Budapest will also have to be closed. It would be desirable if the Hungarian Peace Delegation would make representations and request protection for the Hungarians of Transylvania and their institutions who stand defenseless againts the whim of the Rumanian authorities. The President of the Day of the Interallied Military Mission in Budapest, General Graziani, to the Prime Minister, Mr. Huszár. No. 1738. BUDAPEST, le 3 mars 1920.
