Résumé Remembrance Culture in the German-Israeli Relations - "Normalisation of the Unnormalisable Relationship" and Its Evolution after 1990 This essay examines the past and present of the German-Israeli relationship through the concept of the 'normalisation of the unnormalisable relationship'. This concept is a double paradox, considering the two controversial expressions in it and the ambiguity of the "unnormalisability" in itself. While at first sight asymmetric "unnormalisability'' seems to mark the lack of norms in German-Israeli relations, after a thorough examination, the expression should be attributed to the unique, mainly from the German side norms- and moral-led German-Israeli relations. This characteristic can be observed - inter alia - in the German restitution policy, in the special German national identity and in the judgement of German-Israeli relations in the public opinion. On the other hand, German-Israeli relations can be also identified by "normalisation". The "new normalisation" in the German-Israeli tandem can be best described as the institutionalisation of the relationship after 1990, which is best seen at the political, economic and R&D levels. The most important sign of the "new normalisation" process is the establishment of the German-Israeli intergovernmental consultations. At the same time, "new normalisation" is influenced by the "unnormalisability" as well, which two expressions together serve as the framework of the unique relationship, and which can be recognised as the special German responsibility for Israel's security and the special CSR of German companies towards Israel. The 50th anniversary of the German-Israeli diplomatic relations in 2015 will hopefully bring new freshness to the unique tandem. 2014. tavasz 175
