2011 / 2. szám - FRANCIAORSZÁG ÉS A FRANCIA-MAGYAR KAPCSOLATOK - M. Szebeni Géza: Keresztény-szociális elemek Charles de Gaulle társadalmi víziójában

Résumé Résumé Christian-socialist Elements in de Gaulle's Vision on Society For those people who are interested in history the name of general de Gaulle means first of all the hero of WWII, the organizer and the leader of the French resistance, the founder of the Fifth Republic and the personification of the French foreign policy of „Grandeur." But his activity spread over a multitude of fields and one of them deserves special attention: his stubborn interest which he turned toward the workers' world with. His ideas found their roots in the works and deeds of the main streams of French Christian-democracy and Christian-socialism. He was convinced, too, that from the point of view of mankind capitalism wasn't offering solutions to satisfy the needs of men, for profits generated by its activity belonged to the owners of capital - a minority of society. At the same time he rigorously refused to cede to communism which killed human creativity and initiative. Consequently the General offered a third way of coexistence between work and capital which went down in history under the name of "participation". He was convinced that „participation" - the third way between communism and capitalism - would be capable to change man's place in modern society. 90 Külügyi Szemle
