Résumé The Problems of Mass Immigration for Spain The paper analyses migration, and especially Latin American migration to Spain, which is motivated by several - historical, cultural and linguistic - reasons, as well as by international politics (changes in US migration policy in the wake of 9/11) and also by the political and economic crises of Latin American countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, etc.). These are, as it were, the push factors of migration, but there are also pull factors in the host countries, such as the aging of the population and the low birthrates characterizing Europe. As a result, there is a demand for labor to sustain the European welfare state, and immigration is one of the ways to satisfy this demand. The paper also discusses the positive effects of migration, especially its economic aspects (generating wealth for the country which receives immigrants) and the contribution that immigrants make to their native economies by sending remittances to their home countries. Key words: Europe, European Union, Latin America, European Aging, migration, remittances. 2010. ősz 129
