It was already condemned by the UN in 1946, and in the course of time the anti-apartheid struggle there continued to grow in strength and determination, resulting in important resolutions and interna­tional agreements. The article goes on to survey stages of development that can be determined with the aid of international documents, as well as describing the causes which handicapped imple­mentation. A detailed presentation of anti-apartheid action by the socialist countries forms a separate section. The constitutions of individual socialist countries prohibit every kind of racial discirimination, and the same can be said of the principles that govern their foreign policy practice, within"which hos­tility to apartheid can be discerned right from the start. In its discussion of such activities by the states of the socialist community, as displayed on a variety of international platforms, the article stresses that anti-apartheid activities are, at the same time, „an important and organic part of the fight against imperialism.” VII
