It is felt, however, that the very root of the evils, wich led up to the present war crisis, that is, the problem of nationalities in Czechoslovakia, present in principle as well as by their origination from the Peace Treaties, a common suspect and require therefore a similar treatment with regard to all nationalities concerned. Bearing in mind this fact, the Hungarian Government, conscious to their responsibility towards their own nation, as well as of their sympathv with the suffering of nearly one million of their kinsmen beyond the frontier, cannot but insist that, the problem of the Magyars in Czechoslovakia should be dealt with, if not simultaneously, in any case in closest possible succession the peaceful settlement of the German — Czechoslovak dispute. As you will be aware, the Hungarian claims refer to analogue treatment of the territories inhabited by Magyars, to that wich is being adopted in the case of Sudeten-German and Polish areas, that is to say, their reunion with the mothercountry. The justification of th

;s demand is fully demonstrated by the fact, that the question of territorial revision forms already part of the discussions being carried on by the Czechoslovak Government with other Powers. It is equally important that the right for selfdetermination be granted to the Ruthenians and Slovaks, as the only means to arrive at territorial arrangements in accordance with the wishes of the people, and thus to ensure the definite pacification of this part of Europe.
