ADATTÁR - Cseh Géza: Széchenyi István 1845. évi propagandaútja a Tiszavidéken / 325. o.

GÉZA CSEH ISTVÁN SZÉCHENYI'S PROPAGANDA CAMPAIGN IN THE TISZA-REGION IN 1845 The resources published here and the short introduction preceeding the selected documents yield data on the circumstances around the regulation works on the River Tisza and about the events of István Széchenyi's propaganda campaign in autumn 1845. The Central Tisza region was of cardinal importance for the river-regulation works. The local landowners and authorities uniformly accepted Széchenyi's program, thus promoting the start of anti-flooding works significantly. Sources I—IV contain data on the water-regulation meeting held in the presence of Széchenyi. Here, on one hand, the thoughts of Széchenyi's lecture, held in Szolnok on 12 October 1945, are described, and on the other hand, the standpoints and interests of the Jazygian-Cumanian District, connected to the anti-flooding works, are illustrated. Source V is the copy of Széchenyi's letter, who, as royal commissioner, invited the delegates of the Jazygian-Cumanian District to a meeting held in the Károlyi-palace in Pest on the 19th of January, 1846. Document number VI represents part of the records made on the conference of outstanding importance in Pest, where the Tisza-Valley Association was formed on the 26th of January 1846, which later coordinated and directed the anti-floodina works. 342
