International Executive Service Corps Trade & Investment Services for Central and Eastern Europe The Trade and Investment Services (TIS) Program for Central and Eastern Europe is designed to help create trade and investment links between companies in Central and Eastern Europe and companies, venture capitalists and investment organizations in the U.S. and other markets. IESC has been helping firms in Central and Eastern Europe for several years. IESC volunteer industry experts have completed more than 100 technical and managerial assistance projects for a wide variety of firms in the region. The TIS Program for Central and Eastern Europe builds on IESC’s technical and managerial assistance efforts by providing industryspecific business development services to help establish long-term commercial relationships between firms in Central and Eastern Europe and the U.S., as well as other foreign countries. TIS Services The TIS Program for Central and Eastern Europe assesses the potential of both industries and individual firms and helps develop and implement strategies for success in the world market. Following in-depth industry and company surveys, TIS professional staff and volunteer experts help targeted firms internationalize their activities by providing a range of business development services which will: • Assess market potential of specific products/services by capitalizing on the industry expertise of IESC’s network of more than 12,400 volunteer experts, 800 participating U.S. companies, and trade and investment professionals. • Design strategies to help firms bridge the gaps between their goals and current capabilities. • Find markets by identifying and establishing distribution channels for Central and Eastern European products and services in order to generate employment and earn hard currency. • Increase competitiveness of local firms in the international market by improving their production, technical and management capabilities. • Access technology by helping client firms identify, source and acquire appropriate equipment and technologies. • Locate partners by assisting Central and East European companies to identify and negotiate with foreign joint and coventure partners — including co-production, franchising, and licensing arrangements for the transfer of technology. • Provide information about international markets and business practices through research services, networks, customized reports, workshops, seminars and special events tailored to meet client needs and support local private sector organizations.
