AZ MBK ALKOTMÁNYNAK A TAGSÁGRA VONATKOZÓ RÉSZE CHAPTER THREE MEMBERSHIP 3.1 Any adult Magyar has the right to become a member of the MBK. Membership is granted upon written application and payment of the minimum dues specified in the appropriate section of the Bylaws. 3.1.1 An adult is defined as follows: anyone at least in his/her 18th year of life, or anyone who is, or has been, legally married, or anyone not dependent on another for material support. 3.1.2 A Magyar is defined as follows: anyone ever a member of the Magyar Nation in terms of Law 1868:XLIV of the Kingdom of Hungary, declaring all citizens of Hungary to be equal members of the one and indivisible Magyar Nation, without regard to ethnic origin; any descendant of such a person, natural or adopted; and the legal spouse of any of the former. 3.2 Any adult not entitled to membership under the preceding may petition the MBK for admission. If of good moral character and able to demonstrate a sincere desire to affiliate, such a person will be accepted and will, upon payment of dues, gain full rights and privileges in the MBK. 3.3 No distinction whatever is made between persons admitted under §3.1 or §3.2 above. 3.4 A minor child of a member is a member by virtue of his or her parent's membership until such time as he/she reaches adult status, as defined under §3.1.1. Such members must thereafter, and of their own volition, confirm their intention of continuing as regular, active members of the MBK. 3.5 All members of the MBK have the right to participate in the activities of the MBK, and the duty to support its activities. 3.6 All active members have the right to vote for officers of the MBK and on amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws of the Corporation. They have the privilege of serving as officers of the organization, provided they meet the qualifications of a particular office and are selected for, elected or appointed to such office. 3.6.1 MBK members who have reached their 15th birthday but have not yet reached their 18th birthday have the right to vote for youth councillors only.[Addendum, 1988] 3.7 Any member who, for one calendar year, shall not have fulfilled the obligations of membership, will be removed from the roll of active members. 3.8 Membership may be reactivated at any time. Once bestowed, it may not be revoked, except in terms of §3.7. 3.9 The right of individuals to maintain, concurrently with their membership in the MBK, affiliation with other organizations, including denominational bodies, shall not be infringed upon. 3.10 All members of the MBK are urged to deepen constantly their knowledge of the Magyar language to insure their ability to participate fully in the work of the organization.
