NOTICE OF THE KOSSUTH FUND On the 15th of March 1990 in Lajos Kossuth’s birthplace, a village called Monok, in a session of the Kossuth Circle, delegates of 13 institutions and 23 other social, cultural and economic associations decided on founding the Kossuth Fund aimed: 1. To maintain, help and co-ordinate the legacy of L. Kossuth and that of our 1848-49 War of Independence. 2. To maintain the relics and memorial places of Lajos Kossuth and those of years 1848-49; to co-ordinate the work of people who care for these events either in our country or elsewhere and to organize their cooperation. 3. In 1992, to commemorate the 190th anniversary of Kossuth’s birthday we plan to organize a range of celebrations throughout the country. Within the scope of these festivities we intend to organize: •exhibitions from the relics of the years 1848-49, •different programmes, performances, entertaining the guests of fraternal associations and the delegates of the 3rd World Congress of the Hungarians, •queezes and competitions among the youth about Kossuth’s life and the events of the War of Independence. 4. In 1994, to celebrate the centenary of Lajos Kossuth’s death. We wish to declare 1994 “The Year of Kossuth” and we intend to compose the programme the memmorial year, which would consist of: •organizing the co-operation of voluntary associates and individuals who would pay attention to maintaing the Kossuth memorial places in Hungary and all over the world, •supporting and initiating visits to memorial places of Kossuth in Hungary and other countries. 5. To take the initiative in supporting historians who are concerned with Lajos Kossuth's life and to support the publication of books dealing with this topic. 6. To evolve the activity of institutions, associations named after Kossuth we take the lead in developing the life of the Kossuth Circle. The Fund is open to any individual or to legal personalities, who decided to support us either anonymously or by indicating name and address, in Hungary or elsewhere. The form of contribution can be Hungarian Forint or foreign currency, personal E or landed property; help in the work of the Fund (by printing, computing, book-keeping, shipping or any kind of administration work); furthermore we seek the help of organizers, advisers, research workers or people assisting by manual work.
