Looking back on what we experienced as we crank-up to begin our fifth year in publication, we must admit that, while it may have been a frustrating year, nevertheless we learned a good lesson. Never again will we ever depend upon anyone else, regardless of what may be said or promised, to help solve any of our problems, except ourselves and our incredibly loyal and supportive, family of readers! When the “chips-were-down”, our family of readers rallied to our side with their “helping hands” (see pages 2 and 3 following). At the same time, and as if it had triggered it, a “miracle” happened. Like a bolt of lightning out of nowhere, it seemed, a local Hungarian printer reached out to us and offered us an opportunity to become associated with him in his printing plant and, under such equitable terms and conditions, that we could not refuse his offer. Consequently, our costly and very difficult production/distribution problem has been resolved and our publication is more secure now than every before! Because of the required change-over in our operations now and the time it will take to get it functioning smoothly, the road ahead for us will not be any easy one. But, with the kind of response to the “HHR BENEFIT FUND” we received so far, and the “miraculous” answer we got to our pressing problem, 1990 looks like it is going to be a much better and more constructive year for us. We are back in production and we will remain in production! Oursincerest and heart-felt thanks to all of you who gave us a “helping hand” so far. We will not let you down! Paul Pulitzer Executive Editor - Publisher P.S. To “cement” the partnership deal we have with the printing plant referred to above, we are depending upon receiving more tax-deductible contributions to our “HHR BENEFIT FUND”. Please be as generous as you can afford to be. But, regardless of the amount, it will be warmly welcomed and sincerely appreciated. JANUARY 1990 HUNGARIAN HERITAGE REVIEW 1
