A Memorial To Those To Whom We Owe Our Hungarian Heritage... THE AMERICAN IMMIGRANT WALL OF HONOR AT ELLIS ISLAND WHAT IS IT? The American Immigrant Wall of Honor is a permanent exhibit of individual or family names featured at Ellis Island in New York Harbor. It is the only place in America where an ordinary individual can honor his or her family’s heritage at a national monument. WHERE IS IT? The American Immigrant Wall of Honor will have a prominent place in the new museum currently under construction in the Main Building at Ellis Island. The “WALL” is located in a specially designated room which leads to the GREAT HALL on the museum’s second floor. HOW CAN I PLACE A NAME ON THE WALL? Designate a name (or names) and send it along with your gift of $100 or more for each name. For a contribution of $1,000, the name will be displayed on a special plaque of ELLIS ISLAND LEADERS; for $5,000, the plaque of ELLIS ISLAND BENEFACTORS; for $10,000, the plaque of ELLIS ISLAND PATRONS. WHEN CAN I REGISTER A NAME ON THE WALL? Immediately, by sending your gift along with the name of the individual or family name you would like to appear on the Wall of Honor. Your check or money order should be made payable to the: STATUE OF LIBERTY-ELLIS ISLAND FOUNDATION, INC. HOW WILL I KNOW THAT THE NAME HAS BEEN REGISTERED? You will receive an 8V2" x 11" certificate, suitable for framing, that displays the name you have chosen to honor. MAY I PLACE MORE THAN ONE NAME ON THE WALL? Yes! You may elect to honor your family name, the name of an ancestor, relative, or even yourself. A minimum gift of $100 for each name registered is required. HOW WILL MY CONTRIBUTION BE USED? Your TAX-DEDUCTIBLE contribution wil be used to complete the restoration of the Main Building on the northern half of Ellis Island and for the establishment of the museum.
