It was titled: “How I Almost Won the Hungarian Open”. Had Peter won it, he would have been awarded the “Chain-Bridge — Linking East and West Through Golf’ trophy co-sponsored by his own magazine and the Chicago-based, Gold Adventures, Ltd., which is headed up by our friend Patrick O’Bryan. Since then, something new has been added to this year’s “Hungarian-American Open” at the Kék Duna (Blue Danube) Golf Club near Budapest, whose genial President is Dr. Ferenc Gati. It is the “HUNGARIAN HERITAGE CUP” sponsored by the HUNGARIAN HERITAGE REVIEW! It is, of course, too late this year for us to organize our own group of golfers to go over to Hungary to compete against Hungarian golfers for the two trophies mentioned. But, next year, we’ll be there ready to take on all comers for the ‘ ‘Chain- Bridge” and “Hungarian Heritage” cups. Nevertheless, if you’re a golfer and would like to try your luck at coming home this year with either the “Chain-Bridge”, “Hungarian Heritage”, “Friendship”, “Goodwill”, or “Freedom & Fellowship” cups, pick up the phone right away and call Patrick O’Bryan at 312-782-6226. For Pat has a special golf tour scheduled for September 28-October 12, 1987. Costing only $2,250.00 (all-inclusive), his special tour features participation in competitions against Hungarian, Yugoslavian, and Czechoslovakian golfers at such golf clubs as the Kék Duna, Bled, Motol, Karlovy Vary, and Marianske Lazne. There will be plenty of “19th Holes”, receptions, sightseeing trips, dining, dancing, and much more to satisfy everyone. So, if you’re a golfer and want to enjoy an unforgettable golfing experience, while representing the West in friendly and hospitable competition against the East, get in touch with Patrick O’Bryan at Golf Adventures, Ltd., 8 South Michigan Avenue, Suite 2012, Chicago, Illinois 60603 (Tel: 312-782-6226). However, if it may be too late for you, too, to participate this year, but you would like to sign up NOW for the “HUNGARIAN HERITAGE REVIEW’S 1st ANNUAL GOLF TOUR OF HUNGARY” scheduled for 1988, which will include, among many other “goodies” too numerous to mention, participation in the “Hungarian-American Open” at the Kék Duna (Blue Danube) Golf Club, drop us a line NOW to let us know your intentions.
