HCHP 1.15,-11.1,1958, Vol.x/1-2 - 26 -% ■26 1,) The delegates of the presidium of the Lutheran Church in Hungary und the Government of the Hungarian People’s Republic declare in coiiforaiity,that concerning ther relation between the state and the church; they stood on the basis of the agreement concluded in 1948 and as to the churches polity they consider as guiding principles the church’s lavs approved and confirmed by the state either, 2«) The Lutheran Church in Hungary confesses and accepts as God’s will that she carries out the preaching of God’s 'ford, the administrating of sacraments in the political, economical and social carder of socialism; she manifests that our state assures the church’s pastors’ undisturbed activity and the freedom of religion of the congregations according to the spirit of the Constitution of the Hungarian People’s Republic and verifies that our state and church seek after the mutual good relation. 5, ) The theological standpoint of our ohurch mentioned before also comprehends that she considers the Revolutionary '.Yorkers’ and Peasants’ Government as authority ordained by God and that the church educ; 1es her members for loyalty towards the state and obedience towards the state-authorities; in the same time she endeavours to back the efforts of our people and government building up socialism by contributing her responsible leaders’, pastors5 and churchmeiribers’ statements as well as by their loyalty arising from their offices; thus we consider to be our task the oneness and prosperity, the rising of the standard of life, and the education of our people for patriotism, the backing 15) the outward and inward peace and order of our country as well as the service of high reputation of our country in the world. 4* ) We agree with the endeavours in the territory' of foreign affairs of the government of the Hungarian People’s Republio aiming the interest of our people and churchmemberse too, in promoting the ccexistenoe of peoples and the solution of problems by peaceful negotiations. We want to take active part in realizing lasting peace for the sake of the whole - world. We confess,the stronger the inward peace of the peoples the stronger and assured "/even the peace and co-existence of the great family of tlie peoples. Therefore we disapprove of disturbing the inside peace ind oneness of our people and. motherland from inside or autside as well. In the same time we back all the efforts made for the social progress and the peace, 5,) The Lutheran Church in Hungary thanks for the help she has received in her service by the government of the Hungarian People’s Republio up-to-now. In the period immediately before the counter-revolution, end after the deplorable events the state extensively backed - and since that time has been assisting - to form a well-balanced leadership in our church. We highly appreciate the good results in our ohurch’s inside life and in enlarging our international relations deriving from this oo-operation and we consider it very promising far the future.
