He was a pro­phetic soul who in very tribulous times and in the most difficult circumstances could show the way to the church. He was a perspicacious theologian of watchful conscience, a true Christian, a real humanist, and a churchman of democratic and progressive thinking. The Lutheran Church keeps his memory with piety and grati­tude, This heritage cught to be an abiding value for* the present and future of our church. The* Lutheran weekly "Evangélikus Élet" commemorated the anniversary in the issue of December the 1st, * * * * A New Lutheran Rest-Home at Hajdúszoboszló. In the close neemtss of the world famous spa Hajdúszoboszló the Rest-Home of the Lutheran church has been opened. The Spa-Rest-Home is made available for church workers and members seek­ing reoovery both summer and winter. This establishment added to the long row of the charity institution of the Lutheran church considerably, * # * * In the framework of the National Pastors’ cooperative a pastor’s training conference was held in Miskolc in the early days of November for the pastors of the seniorates in the region of Northern Hungary, There were some thirty of pastors present at the conference where theological leotures were de­livered on preaching, the divine service, and the questions of the new Christian life* Bishop Zoltán Turóczy was rendering account of his Finnland journey as well as retired Bishop József Szabó of his journey to China. # * $ * Five young pastors, with home-scholarship, gave an account of their one year long scientifical studies in the Lutheran Theological Academy on December the 4th, That was the first account of that kind in the life of the Lutheran Church in Hungary* Several church bodies placed 10 month scholarship for scientifical theological studies at the young pastors’ disposal in the elapsed few years. The young pastors selected of the numerous applicants, having these scholarships, were able to dedicate themselves to scientifical researches under the guidance of the professors of the theological academy. Miklós Bodrog, Assistant Pastor in Miskolc worked in the territory of the Old Testament sciences, he translated the Book of Psalms into Hungarian in a new and modem translation. The Assistant Pastor in Pécs, Sándor Cserháti wrote a study in the area of the practical theology under tly title: "'. orId View as a Homiletical Problem", Miklós Madocsay, Assistant Pastor in the Buda-Rock congre­gation worked in the territory of the systematic theology and wrote a study which had for its theme: "The Church and the Natural Human Communities". Pastor Andor Muntag of Monor wrote an. Old Testament study under the title: "Hiob’s God" while the Assistant Pastor of Budapest, Vilmos Schreiner prepared a work entitled: "Secularism" in the territory of the systematical theology. All the scholarship-holders were examined also orally on their scien­tifical werk by a study commission consisting of the professors of the iáiéological faculty.
