HCHP XII,31}19579 Vol>IX/15-16- 3 -181 Religious Affair* of the Ministry of Culture, and the representatives of the Chinese Aiiibassy in Budapest., The Chinese guests had their stationary accommodations in Budapest, nevertheless they vizited a rather considerable part of the country, on their numerous tours of the provinces. They called on all the bishops of the Protestant churches in their homes and payed a call of courtesy at all the Boards of the Churches, They had an appointment with the Presidential Council of the Reformed General Convent and the Presidium of the Lutheran Churah-Centre, further on they were in the Central' Office of the Baptist Church and in the Superintendency of the Methodist Church, They also met the prominent personages of the Homan Catholic Church« Our visitors partook of the annual meetings of the church districts all held in December, they were present at the Peace-Rallies of the churches, and at several Pastors-' Conferences, Their contributions and brotherly remarks were accepted with the greatest attention ; nd sincere enthusiasm all over the country. They held divine services in several Budapest congregations (Calvin-Square, Deák- Square. Gorkij-Avenue, Buda-Rock, Szilágyi Dezső-Square, Nap-Street) and in lots of the country (Pápá, Sárospatak, Debrecen, Miskolc, Balassagyarmat, Kaposvár, Diósgyőr, Eger, ózd, Kecskemét, Nyíregyháza, Kévizgyörk, Békéscsaba, Pécs, Tordas, Hajdúböszörmény, etc,), They gave addresses in the Protestant Theological Academies end visited the libraries and the scientific collections of them in Budapest and Debrecen, and those of Pápa and Sárospatak, A profound exchange of views took •place between the guests and the prox'essors of the faculties, and the theological students respectively. They called at the Protestant Charity-Institutions and Rest-Homes for Pasters« On their tours they could have a view of the most beauy tiful sceneries of Hungary (Miskolc, Tapolca, Lillafüred, Aggtelek, Diósgyőr, Ózd, Eger, Mátraháza, Párád, Kékes, Galyatető, BalatonfUred, Tihany, Badacsony, Szigliget, Keszthely, Hévíz, CelldbmÖlk). They payed visits at the homes of the members of the Hungarian Church Delegation toured in China, thus they called on Senior Pál Nyauy, Deputy Bishop at Kaposvár’; and ret, Bishop József Szabó, at Balassagyarmat, They inspected all the cultural and historical sightseeings, exhibitions and museums cf the localities touched on their tours of provinces and in the capital itself, thus they called at the agricultural cooperatives and the industrial works, partook of theatrical and opera performances. They payed a call of courtesy both at the Chinese Airibassy in Budapest and at the Ministry of Culture, find called cn the President of the State Office for Religious /ffairs, Finally they partook of several receptions done in honour of our guests« The Christmas Eve of our visitors -was spent in the family circles of pastors, then they left for a short rest for Mátraháza Rest-Home for pasters, In all probability they are to leave our country on January 2nd. CHINESE VISITORS AT THE MEETING OP THE ECUMENICAL COUNCIL The delegates of the churches of China had their first opportunity to give their goed contributions on the enlarged emergency meeting of the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Hungary htid in the Building of the Reformed General Convent o.i i.'.1 ov embe _ 2 o «n« The President of the Council, D, Albert Bereczky, chairman of the meeting greeted them in his opening address« He pointed out the phurch-historical importance of the moment and that the Chinese brethren’s visit what a grandiose push has given to the ecumenical service of the Hungarian churches in its way to fullness« Then he 'went on: ?
