- 22 -178 , HGÍIP XX. 30P-S57,' Vol, JjL/l .X or or the consideration cf outward advantages, hut only in obedience to the vision of fad±h-as-'-rovealed by the Word cf God that Bishop Bereozky has led us on this basis and in this narrow path. The Convocation is convinced that the decisive majority of the officials and believers of th3 Church District recognise that the church government of the past period was able - inspite of its faults - not only to preserve the spiritual and material resources of our church, but also to make essential progress by enriching our entire church with spiritual as well as with material values. Many -mined church buildings were rebuilt, many decaying congregations renewed ard the people of the church today is already trying to bear the fruits of a renewed preaching. Having seen ard considered all these things, it is the unanimous conviction of the Convocation that a healthy development of'the synod’s life imperatively demands that the Convocation, notwithstanding the announced intention of Bishop Albert Bereozky to resign, ask him with love ard confidence to take further the lead of the Synod and lelp the Synod with his faith, wisdom and love to make progress on the road of the desired solutions and of development. The Synod is confident that this resolution expresses the confihc.-nce and hope of the congregations, pastors and consi stories, "whose faith and hope vouchsafe for the request of the convocation. In view of all these things the Convocation unanimously decides not to oocogt the .resignation of Albert Bereczlcy from his office as Bishop. The Convocation thanks God for His grace of lifting Bishop Bereozky out of the depth of illness and weakness and of giving him growing strength, which is a sign far the Convocation that the one who, by the will of God, tried to lead us in the narrow path is still permitted to lead us further and must lead us for we are now more than ever in need of his clear insight. The Convocation will take, in the interest of sparing and preserving the working energies of the Bishop, who is now recovering from his illness, the most effective measures. . * # # * # Mimeographed by the Press Service of the General Convent of the Reformed Church in Hungary, Budapest XIV., Ahonyi utca 21, Hungary,
