that the next Pentecost proclaim the reality of the Christmas message "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men", BISHOP L. DEZSÉRY: "OUR FAITH INVOLVES RESPONSIBILITY FOR MANKIND" The Executive Committee of the International Federation of Journalists held its session in Budapest on May 10-12, with newspapermen from twenty countries attending. One of the delegates of the National Federation of Hungarian Newspapermen was Lutheran Bishop László Dezséry, the editor of the national church weekly of the ■^therans, ihe "Evangélikus Elet", One of the main themes of the conference was the question how to secure a stronger participation of newspapermen in the fight for world peace. The Hungarian speaker, Bishop Dezséry made, with regard to this question, the following statement:- I am here as a newspaperman, but you know well that I am the edit or of a church paper, the "Evangélikus Élet", and so I am representing the Hungarian Protestant church press which is your ally in the fight for the great human cause of peace. I am also representing the tens of thousands cf readers of the church papers, and I may even say that the Hungarian Protestant churches are ••'.Iso engaged in this great struggle. It is by the decision of Christian faith that the press of the two large historical Protestant churches, the Reformed and the Lúthoran, as well as the bishops* other leaders, pastors and the millions of believers take part in serving the cause of peace. We, Hungarian Christians are of the conviction that our faith involves a responsibility for mankind. We, therefore, continue the work which has the aim of awakening this sense of responsibility in the mind of an increasing number of Christian people in this country and in other countries of the world, Wo refuse to have anything to do with a journalism which is inciting people to war and hatred by means of appealing to their religious conviction. Those engaged in this journalism are, according to the word of Jesus ^hrist, "wolves in sheep1 s clothing". We hold it as our Christian duty to pro-claim and realize love and mutual good will among men* FELLOWSHIPS OF LUTHERAN PASTORS The pastors of the Montana Church District hold their fellowship meetings by the presbyteries. Three such meetings have been held recently in the Csanád Csongrád, Middle Pest and Budapest presbyteries. All three meetings were addressed by Bishop László Dezséry who spoke of the timely questions of the Church District and. also on the theme, "Church Discipline".
