Then the Referebdary gave a report on the work on the conference grounds which are superintended by the mission workers appointed by the General Conventus, There are three such retreats: in Balatonszárszó, Tahi on the Danube, and Alcsut, The work in Balatonszárszó was mostly of a general nature, Tahi gave home to conferences dealing with the work in families and youth, and children*s conferences; Alcsut was the scene of pastors1' meetings, revival meetings and conferences for leaders of children*s work. Similar conferences were arranged by the Transdanubian Synod in the mission home of Balatonftired and by the Transtibiscan Synod in the Pastors' Home at Berekfürdő, This latter retreat housed several courses of biblioal instruction and evangelistic meetings for elders. Hungarian Church Press-14-THE LIBERALITY OP THE SZAMOSUJLAK BELIEVERS The ancient parish of Szamosujlak. with about 500 members, is on the right bank of the Szamos river in the Szatmár presbytery. As the church and the parish buildings were in a rather bad shape, the parishioners decided recently to have them repaired by their own strength, without asking for any outside aid. After they repaired the fences and the smaller buildings last year, this year they began to work on the church building. The pastor volunteered to paint - free of charge - the doors and windows, the elders and parishioners offering to do the rest of the outer and interior repairs. In addition to this, they raised 2,482.- Forimts and contributed 70 dayhs work and 26 transports. The work is now nearly finished, and on Whitmonday, a thanksgiving service was held for the lessing that God has bestowed so far on this work. May 20 marked an outstanding event in the course of this service. On this day. two Reformed presbyteries observed their "Press Day",the Debrecen City Presbytery and the Budapest Suburban Presbytery. On this day, in 19 parishes of the city of Debrecen, the sermons dealt with the service of the church press. Following the church services, discussions took place in all parishes, with the press referendaries of the congregations giving talks on the church press. An exhibition wa-s set up on each parish, showing the publications of the Press Department,Bibles, hymnaries, books, periodicals etc. These were offered for sale or inspection, In the afternoon, with Bishop John Péter in the chair, a discussion took place in which the pastors, teachers of religion, pro-
