-13-In giving an account of missionary work in the Tränstibisnan Synod» the Referendary pointed to the good fruits of the pastofsi*awakening and of their renewed interest in the study of theology« Collections are on the increase. He cited the interesting example of one parish where the sum of collections and free will offerings amounted to 100,000 Forints« ^his congregation spent 48,000 Forints on missionary work. Then Hr,, Makkai gave an. account of the national work of mission, The work in families began to stress the spiriTua!Teducation of parents. In more than-half a" part of this special service, the work includes the evangelisation and Biblical instruction of the parents and grandparents» Work among children was conducted at occasions of church services „.Bible classes and family devotions. In pinny places, training courses wore orgapised for workers among children. The third of these courses, in the Budapest-Pasarét Church, was attended by more than 100 persons,A leader5 guide to Bible classes was, published for the use of the workers. Voluntary workers spent 214 working days among children, , The leader of the work among wo men conducted 10 twelve-day courses for women in the Budapes!-Yateiihegy "Home, and 6 other courses in other congregations. Teaching woi?k was connected with visiting the students and looking after &heir spiritual welfare always. Dr, Makkai called special attention to the courses conducted in the Diósgyőr*. Vasgyár and Kaba parishes where factory workers, men and women, and working peasants took part in the courses. The leader of this branch of work has now completed the syllabus of biblical teaching for use in the Budapest- Istenhegy Home and translated several jjortions of the latest volume /lYlfi/ of Karl Barth’s Dogmatics, Jewish and Foreign missionary efforts were integrated in the "Good Shepherd" missionary suh-committee of the General Conventus, In the Mission Home of the "Good Shepherd", services, instruction hours, Bible classes arid prayer meetings were hold on evory day of the week. In the same home., at Bimbó Road, Budapest, one-week spirittral conferences were held, in succession, the themes being based on the Heidelberg Catechism, "Love feasts" wore observed once a month« The workers of this branch of work visited nearly all congregations of the capital, conducting evangelistic services« The free distribution of the Hew Testament was carried on. About 17,000 copies have been distributed so far. Services dedicated to the cause of foreign missions were conducted in about 40 congregations. The workers in this branch of mission work conducted about 130 occasional preaching services. About 8C0 congregations- and 700 individuals took part in the financial assistance of this w.;rk with their contributions. 6 regular and 70 voluntary workers took part in the work of Biblical instruction, 72 elementary courses, 12 secondary courses, 8 draining courses - each lasting 3-4 days'- for'pastors, 11 study days, 2 technical discussions, dealing with the plan and method of study, were conducted in the last year. In addition to thesu conferences arranged by the national leadership, more than 100 further conferences were arranged by the presbyteries, A new branch of work was organised tov/ards the end of the last year with the task of teaching the new Hymnary.
