-8-Churches - were launched and carried on mostly try voluntary associations, have been gradually absorbed by the church and the congregations. The by nodal Council, in last May, created, by modifying the "Missionary Statute" of 1931, a new Regulation of "missionary" activities. Tire reconstituted Missionary Committee of the General Conventus held its first meeting on June 27. The new committee consists of the four Bishops, the four Chief Curators, one elected representative from each of the four Synods, one representative of each of the four theological schools and 12 elected members representing the various branches of "missionary" work. As the main decision of the session, the Committee formed three large groups of "missionary" work and, within these groups, the various branches of "missionary" enterprise, "Missionary" work will be carried on in three groups. These are as follows:-1, Tho Group of Congregations Building. Branches of this aro: a/ the work among pastors, b/ among elders, c/ in families, d/ Biblical 'coaching, e/ hymn singing, f/ Jewish and -foreign Missions, g/ conference ground«, camps and retreats. 2. The Group of Charitable Service: a/ diakonia in the congregations, b/ institutional diakonia, c/ professional workers of the diakonia, 3. Press Department: a/ periodicals, b/ theological and general church literature. The three groups have now set up, within the framework of the administration of the General Conventu3, a common office. Theii financial affairs will be entrusted to a common "missionary" treasury, under the leadership, direction and control of the proper administrative bodies of the congregations, presbyteries and synods. Hungarian Church Press BBREAmiSTT IN THl REFOiiMsD CHURCH The Chief Curator of the Transtibisoan Synod, Dr.Béla Szontpéteri Kun, retired Professor of Church Polity and Canon law’axthe Debrecen University, has dies in the age of seventysix. The deceased was a prominent Protestant expert in Church Law, who, in spite of his advanced ago, took part very actively, up to tho end of his life, in the leadership cf the Reformed Churoh. The funeral service was performed by Bishop John Péter of the Transtibisoan Synod. All four Synods were represented at the funeral in Debrecen. The Debrecen ULiv^-ity sent out a special obitua.iy commemorating the services of its former .Rector and Professor.
