No 8. ■3-those elders, who are men of prayers and in a living fellowship with Christ the lord of the Church is steadily increasing throughout the country, yet the hulk of our elders consists of men, who are not more hut men of good intentions, fond of their church. The Association of Alders set the aim that our elders may not he mere office-hearers hut also döh of faith* REVIVAL CONFERENCES EVERYWHERE The columns of the Hungarian Evangelical Press are practically packed with reports of the different Summer conferences, All the conference centers of Protestant churches are full with young folk and grown-ups. The air is filled with hymns along the lake shore of Balaton, in Szemes and Szárszó, as well as in Tahi along the Danube or high up in the mountains of %tra and in the plainland. Along the river Tisza as well as among the old walls of the College of Sárospatak or on the huge grounds of Alcsut. At the recent one-week youth conference of the Lutheran Church.at Tahi 780 young girls and youngsters were present, hut Gyenesdiás.and Répcelak are equally packed. The well-deserved repose after a busy year of faithful work is well coupled with the precious joy of spiritual re«oreation for those so eager for the Word of God. There are two things we like to place into the hag of each of our brothers and sisters hound for a conference. First of all that very deep gratitude for both external and internal possibilities for conferences at all. We regard it as a precious present to he able to take free part in them, and while thanking it to God we also understand, that all that is granted, as He has still got many important things He wants to impart. And that is where the second gift for the conference steps in: everybody must leave this Summer with the expectation that God has some new message in store for him or her. Woe to such conferences behind which the spirit is working that all was well as it was done before. God is urging to look for, and trod the new path He opened for us: the path of perfect obedience, that will no more split life into two parts, so that there is a pious churchly inner life and an outward life in us. BIBLE EXPOSITION OF "POLITICAL ADVENTISM" The periodical "Lutheran Life" publishes an editorial on political adventiam by László Benczúr, professor of religion. The word of bishop Bereczky is branding that religious aberration by it, which puts in the center of its faith, instead of the return of the Lord, the hope of the return of the vanished Horthy regime.
