Wo 4. 3t/ A characteristic feature of the revival of the Hungarian evangelical Church is that it is a revival of the clergy* According to the Word of God,judgement must begin in the House of Godt Where the ministers are willing to do tL-is,revival starts among them at the House of God.Those who know the history of revival movements know well how many struggles embittered the relations between the official Church and the revival movements until the Spirit of God was able to soften the hearts of the ministers. God has miraculously saved us from this strife. V/e can never be grateful enough to Kim for this. 4./ While this revival of the Hungarian Evangelical Church is primarily a revival of the clergy,we are glad to see that this revival of the clergy draws along the laymen of the congregation too. While in the administration of the Church, laymen stand asido, to make the Church more and more a clerical Church,an increasingly greater part of the expressly clerical work of the Church is demanded our faithful lay brethren. 5*/ Another interesting oympton of the revival of our church is that it is a revival amongst youth. Besides the ministers, the Holy Spirit of God has enflamed our youth most. This is true of boys and young men as well as girls.Happy instances show how God can gain glory through the voice of children and how He brings to Himself the parents through the children, the old people through the young. 6./ Finally,I would like to stre S o CL nother important feature of the revival of our Church: this revival is a result of prayer. A revival cannot be made.Human effort is incapable of raising the dead. It can dress the corpse, it can cover up the odour of death with the fragrance of flowers, it can gorgeously decorate the hoarse, but it cannot raise the dead. Revival is a gift of God,which must be asked in prayer. The work of revival in our Church has been preceded by the unseen host of those who have prayed, who follow its labour and rejoice over its accomplishments. Jesu© painted this picture to His disciples not to give them vain satisfaction, nor to nurture their indolence, but, on the contrary, to make them sec God’s possibilities concealed in the present situation and to make them willing to accomplish all the urgent tasks. "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will Bend forth labourers into his harvest." /Matthew IX:37,38/ THE HEW REFORMED CIIIEF-SUPERIHTEKDEKT The Reformed diocese of the Lanubian Distt. has installed Roland Ki3s,ambassador extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary, into the office of superintendent. The new leader is an.‘.#ld worker of his Church and had held high offices in them. She importance of that event is also shown by the fact that the representatives of the Government led. by the Prime-minister and the President of Parliament were present. The President of the Republic,Árpád Szokasits, has also sent letters of greeting to the festive gathering.-3- May 8, 1949
