16 Hírünk a Világban Our Repufafion in fhe World English Summary The triumphal American tour of the Philharmonia Hungarica is analysed by Gyula Zsakó (New York). Another article on music reviews the successes of Hungarian musicians in America: Joseph Szigeti, Sándor Veress, László Kondorossy, Ottó Herz, etc. Sándor Veress’ « Threnos » received its American premiere in Peoria, 111.; the Musical America had this to say about the work: “ « Threnos », or « Song of Lamentation », was performed with insight and inspiration. It is based on Transylvanian mourning chants and is vivid, brilliant, and deeply moving. ” Ildikó Németh (Vienna) discusses the good or bad reception given to the Hungarian films at international festival Endre Encsi (London) reminds the readers of the struggle against tyranny conducted by Irodalmi Újság before the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. « Bibliográfia » continues the bibliography of Professor László Pálinkás (Firenze) presenting the books published abroad in Hungarian since 1945. A rich collection of quotations from Hungarian periodicals illustrates the events in book publishing and related fields in Hungary during the last two years.
