32 Hírünk a Világban The founder of Tibetology, Alexander Csorna de Kőrös, was born in Transylvania 175 years ago. At this occasion several articles of our present issue are devoted to this great Hungarian scholar. Zoltán Sztáray (New York) writes about his life. Sister Savitri (Khanolkar) (Darjeeling, India) reports on her visit to Csoma’s grave in Darjeeling, together with Tenzing, the conqueror of Mount Everest. (See Picture Supplement). A fund raising campaign is opened by this paper for the benefit of Tibetan refugees. Prof. János Horváth (Manila) reports on the success of the Hungarian exhibition at the 4th International Student Festival in Manila. Jenő Platthy (Tokyo) revives the forgotten life of Bernáth Bettelheim, Hungarian missionary at Okinawa. László Losonczy (Vienna) describes his meeting with Hungarians living in Morocco. T. P. (Basel) commemorates the great Hungarian peasant leader, Béla Kovács, who has deceased recently, and recalls his heroic fight against Communism. Ce même no. annonce que la revue va lancer une collecte en faveur des réfugiés de la révolution tibétaine. János Horváth nous fait connaître le succès des Hongrois libres à l’Exposition du « 4th International Student Festival », organisée à Manille. Jenő Platthy nous rappelle la vie presque oubliée du missionnaire hongrois d’Okinawa, Bernât Bettelheim. László Losonczy nous décrit sa rencontre avec des Hongrois, au Maroc. T. P. écrit le nécrologue sur Béla Kovács, chef du mouvement paysan hongrois, héros de la résistance, en Hongrie. Endre Enczi analyse le bâillonnement de la littérature hongroise sous le régime Kádár. Mártha Szabó (New York) writes about Hungarian porcelain painters in Vienna whose shop is now turning out painted fabrics and embroidery. The column Western Observer discusses Hungarian cultural events. « Our Scholars Abroad » deals with the activities of the following Hungarian scholars and specialists: Ida Bobula, Stephen Borhegyi, Paul Fejős, Stephen Foltiny, Koloman Laki, Jenő Kamarásy, László Miskolczy, Gyula Moravcsik, Rémig Papp, Lajos Sikos-Tomay, Mária Telkes. In the supplement, « Bibliográfia », George Szabó (New York) (chief collaborator of « Hirünk a Világban») describes the Corvina-volumes in the United States as well as the Corvina recently discovered in England. Róbert Major (New York) exposes the errors in works about the Hungarian revolution. Another article discusses the activities in 1959 of, Hungarian book publishers abroad. The Hungarian Library in Florence is examined, being the first one in a series. Different book reviews and bibliographies complete the issue. Dans la « Bibliographie », György Szabó, collaborateur principal de « Hirünk a Világban » décrit les Corvina se trouvant aux Etats Unis (les volumes de la bibliothèque renaissance du roi Mathias de Hongrie) ainsi que le Corvina découvert récemment en Angleterre. Robert Major relève les erreurs, plus ou moins graves, trouvées dans des ouvrages au sujet de la revolution hongroise de 1956. Dans un autre article il est question de l’activité des éditeurs hongrois á l’étranger, en 1959. Comme première partie d’une suite d’articles se proposant de nous présenter les bibliothèques hongroises á l’étranger, nous faisons la connaissance de la Bibliothèque Hongroise de Florence.
