Debrecen, Hungary Abstract: The mayfly Palingenia longicauda has a 3-year life cycle. An assemblage of Palingenia longicauda from a meander of the Hungarian stretch of the Upper-Tisza near village Gulács was investigated for genetic variation among generations. The generations were determined by examining the distribution of body length measurements among larvae. For the genetic investigation AFLP method was used. The three cohorts could be dissorted from each other, but there is only a little genetic distance between them. Keywords: mayfly Palingenia longicauda, semivoltin life cycle, River Tisza, Hungarian stretch of the Upper-Tisza, generations, AFLP, genetic variation. /. táblázat.
